John Ammons, Principal

Hello, My name is John Ammons.  I am excited to serve as Principal at Bladenboro Primary School for the 2024-2025 school year. I most recently served as Assistant Principal at BPS. For 13 years, I taught Social Studies at Whiteville High School, West Bladen High School, and Bladenboro Middle School. During that time, I also had the privilege of coaching baseball and football. I hold an Associate of Science in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Arts in History, and I am currently in the process of completing my Master of School Administration.

Shannon Ross, Assistant Principal

Shannon Owens Ross joins Bladenboro Primary School as Assistant Principal, bringing 13 years of experience with Bladen County Schools. Having taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, she brings a well-rounded perspective to her new role. Shannon recently completed the NC Principal Fellowship at Bladenboro Middle School, furthering her commitment to the community. 

A passionate advocate for literacy, she has collaborated across disciplines to enhance instruction and believes in fostering diverse learning styles to inspire a lifelong love of learning. Shannon holds degrees from East Carolina University, Duke Divinity School, and UNC Pembroke, where she earned her Master of School Administration.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Hank, and their three children. They love outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, and relaxing with their German Shepherds. Shannon is excited to contribute to the success of Bladenboro Primary and looks forward to an exceptional school year.
